The Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) offers a couple of options in its Distance Learning program. Course formats include Internet, and hybrid classes. These courses are equal to other courses in credit hours, academic rigor, and student requirements.
Internet courses give students access to their courses 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Instructor provides instructional materials, course activities, assignments, and discussions in an online environment. At ITC, all online courses are predominantly asynchronous, meaning that you do your coursework at whatever time of the day you choose. Expect to devote the same amount of time each week as you would for a face-to-face course. That is, if it's a 3-credit hour course, expect 9 hours of work each week.
Hybrid courses blend traditional classroom instruction with online distance education. Distance learning students will attend on campus classes via a virtual classroom and participate in the class using streaming video, audio, and real time text chat. Using the online course environment and the virtual classroom, distance learning students can participate in classes taking place on campus in real time without having to travel to the campus.
